Pair of Neoclassical Style Wood Carved and Gilded Mirrors, 20th Century French

This exceptional pair of Neoclassical-style hand-carved and gilded wood mirrors features an elaborate and richly detailed design. The crest features a prominent palmette motif flanked by intricate open scrollwork, acanthus leaves, and florals that cascade down the curved sides of the mirror and end with striking carved phoenixes at either side, adding a mythical element to the pair. Acanthus leaves and bellflowers delicately detail the outer frame. A bead and reel border on the inner frame is accentuated by a concentric frame of acanthus leaves. In between, delicate foliate scrollwork and foliage patterns are featured further accentuated the classical theme.
