Pair of Ormolu Bronze and Red Marble Urns, French 19th Century

A unique pair of red marble urns with decorative ormolu bronze mountings. The combination of the reddish pink marble and superb bronze work creates a striking contrast, emphasizing the desirability of these pieces. Intricate ormolu bronze mountings in foliate motifs adorn these urns from top to bottom. Unique crown-like mountings in a sit atop the body of each urn, and are followed by intricate handles attached gracefully at either side and centered by a striking mount around each neck. The body of each urn is supported by a ormolu bronze pedestal attached to a marble base detailed with ormolu bronze ribbons along the edges and elaborate feet combining a traditional shell motif along with acanthus leaves.
