Pair of Régence Style Brass Inlaid and Ebonized Pedestals, 19th Century French
These Régence style pedestals feature pronounced curves, rich ornamentation and a striking ebonized finished, making them perfect focal point for any interior setting. At the top, ormolu bronze mountings run around the pedestals. An egg-and-dart band frames the upper edge and is followed by a ring of acanthus leaves and then a lozenge pattern band below. Prominent curves mounted with ormolu bronze scrolls and acanthus leaves are positioned on the four corners of the cabinet door, adding a sense of fluidity typical of régence style furniture. Symmetrical bronze escutcheons featuring floral motifs and ribbon are mounted on the cabinet door. The pedestals stand on plinth bases with scalloped aprons. Echoing the doré bronze cornices at the top, the bases are crowned with ormolu bronze moldings featuring ornate foliate motifs typical of the period. Brass inlay is featured throughout and accentuates the curving lines of these striking pieces.
